Last night was the Matamata District Digi Awards at the Intermediate in town! It was a great night and we saw all the finalist enteries from all the other schools. Hinuera School was well represented with quite a handful of our classmates making the finals! In our eyes, Ava was the star of the night and won the award for Best Photo Story in the Year 4-6 category! Well done to Ava, and to the others that got involved! No doubt we are all looking forward to next years Digi Awards now that we all
know what to expect :)

Check out the bubbles we made in Kahikatea 7! They were lots of fun as we were able to make such big bubbles using our hands! Don't forget to read the descriptive sentences below :)

They were shimmering as they danced in the sky- Caitlyn

The mixture swirled and twirled around my fingers. I took my hands out and blew softly. The bubble looked like a dancing rainbow- Ava

The bubbles hovered above the trees and were gliding over the grass –Le Roy

I blew very gently and then the bubble squeezed out. It slowly drifted away until ‘pop!’ it disappeared like it was never there- Marlene

A gentle breeze sweeps the bubbles away as softly as a caring hand- William

The bubble mysteriously disappeared like it was never there- Mikayla

I produced a bubble, silvery as my granny’s hair, shiny as fish scales, colourful like a rainbow, wet like a frog and as big as Jupiter - Jessica

They vanished into the air like they were a ghost- Khan

The bubbles were like microscopic rainbows. I touched one and it felt oily, slick, light and greasy, then it went pop! –Samual

Jadon blew the biggest bubble you can ever imagine. It’s like there is an imaginary bubble machine- Leo

Earlier in the week, we were talking about the things that make our class a neat and special place to learn. Gemma said that K7 is special because we can have fun in our class and it is easy to work with each other.  Someone agreed with that and added that it is because we all co-operate with one another and treat each other with respect. We also decided that it is because we often think about our class treaty and the rules that help make our class work well.  Jadon then said we know all the routines and they are effective to help our class run each day.

Why do you think it is important for us to continue to build on these things? What other things can we do to make K7 a great place to learn?

Room 7 did some wonderful descriptive writing today!

First of all we created our 'Wild Self' on this super cool website (If your lucky I might add it to the blog!) and then we had to describe it, using adjectives and similes. This is the one Sarah did.

The Strange Creature-

The strange but unique creature is very different to people. She is called the  Cob-fen- wal-octo-tarantula. For legs she has 8 long hairy spider legs and for arms she has long navy blue octopus tentacles, which are as sticky as glue. She has long, sharp and pointy fangs like a Sabeur Tooth  tiger. If you look at her you will notice that she has big fox like ears, all hairy in the inside. To protect her from the sun, she has a cobra snake hood covered in red scales. She has big puppy dog eyes. The only thing that is normal about her is her orange plated hair......

Thank you for letting us share your work Sarah. Maybe some of you others might like to post a comment with a sentence that you did and were really proud of. I know we would all like to read them! :)
